The quintet will perform a two-hour set from 5:30-7:30 p.m., with a mix of standards and contemporary jazz. Arrive early for a good seat. Jazz 1 Wins Sweepstakes Award at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival

MTHS Jazz Ensemble 1 proudly displays the Sweepstakes Award. The Mountlake Terrace High School (MTHS) Jazz Ensemble 1 won the Sweepstakes award last Saturday, April 20, at the University of Idaho Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival. They competed against 82 other high schools from Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and Canada.  The jazz band performed earlier in the day where they were adjudicated on their 20 minute set. They performed “A Little Minor Booze”, “Trav'lin' Light”, “The Sunny Side of the Street”, and “Clap Hands, Here Comes Charlie!” After winning their division, the adjudicators selected the top two schools for the Sweepstakes...

Mountlake Terrace High School Jazz Band wins back-to-back top honors at the Newport Jazz Festival

For the second year in a row, the Mountlake Terrace High School’s Jazz Ensemble 1 (Jazz 1) took home top honors at the Newport Jazz Festival at Newport High School in Bellevue.  Last Saturday, Jazz 1 won the 3A Division and the festival’s Sweepstakes Award, recognized as the festival’s best jazz ensemble.
