What is the Jazz Symposium?
The primary purpose of the Jazz Symposium is education. Performances are not judged. The hope of the symposium is to assist, encourage, enthuse, motivate, and nurture a desire in students and directors to become better musicians. To that end we will work to create an environment that is open and honest and based on principles of collaboration and sharing. Our hope is that students will be supportive and engaged listeners who are there to learn from everything we have to offer.
Each jazz band receives 20-minutes for a performance and 40-minutes with a clinician. Jazz combos will receive 20-minutes for the performance and clinician comments. There will be discounted rates for registering a second or third ensemble. Jazz combos are free with your ensemble registration. In addition to the performance and clinic, we will host a master class and guest band open to all attendees (students, directors, parents, community).
Who can register?
The jazz symposium is open to all middle and high schools throughout Puget Sound. There are a limited number of spots so early registration is encouraged.
