
Mountlake Terrace High School Jazz welcomes the community to this Sunday’s concert with Jazz 1 and Jazz 2 at the Sheridan Market.
“Jazz 1 leaves for New York next week to perform in the prestigious Essentially Ellington Jazz Competition and we want to send them off with a big community send off! Each time this band plays in the Big Apple, they are representing our community and letting the nation know how special of a place we live in,” said Brett Holt, Mountlake Terrace High School Band Boosters Communications Coordinator.
Jazz 1 and Jazz 2 are performing at the Sheridan Market on Sunday, April 26, from 2-4pm. All are welcome to attend this free concert. Donations are welcome to support the trip to New York. The Sheridan Market is located at 15348 Bothell Way NE, Lake Forest Park, WA.
The Sheridan Market is a family owned, community centered venue managed by Paula Goode and Ernesto Pediangco. They have generously donated their space for this event.

About Essentially Ellington
Mountlake Terrace High School Jazz 1 was selected to perform at the prestigious Essentially Ellington Jazz Band Competition & Festival for the second year in a row.
Bringing the country’s best high school jazz musicians together, the event will be held on April 30 – May 2, 2026, at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall, located at Broadway and 60th Street in New York.
From the 119 schools that submitted recordings this year, Mountlake Terrace High School Jazz 1 was one of 20 jazz bands selected as finalists. Joining Mountlake Terrace High School from the Puget Sound area are Shorewood and Bothell high schools.
Mountlake Terrace is no stranger to participating at Essentially Ellington. Under the direction of Darin Faul, Jazz 1 is an 11-time finalist in the Essentially Ellington Jazz Band Competition. Mountlake Terrace High School Jazz Bands are honored regularly at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival in Moscow, Idaho, and at Starbucks’ Hot Java Cool Jazz in Seattle, Washington. Students have received top solo and group honors at regional and national competitions, and have been featured in All-State and All-Northwest music groups.
Now in its 31st year, Essentially Ellington offers jam sessions, workshops and performances in addition to the competition, while fostering a vibrant, worldwide community dedicated to the music and legacy of Duke Ellington.
