Welcome to the Band Program at Mountlake Terrace High School. I’m the director, Darin Faul. I’m looking forward to meeting all the students and families and look forward to working with all of you!
I’ve been told by parents that initial experiences in the program can be a bit confusing and/or overwhelming because there can be too many assumptions made about what is known. I apologize in advance if that happens. I’ll do my best to keep you informed with as few words as possible! Please read the things I send and ask questions right away; ask other parents or me. The band app is a great forum for help. (See below)
Late last week I was finally able to get contact information for incoming families. I have been able to email students this summer but I’m not sure how many of them have been checking email or if they shared this information with parents. I’m sorry the notification is not more in advance.
This email is to let you know about a few things to do before school starts. Please read! We will have a meeting for new families on September 10th. Our first football game is on September 12th (the pep band plays). See?!? Already…what is pep band? Football games? Are they required? Where? What do they where? All of this will be shared with you. Hang in there! For now, let’s just focus on the following items. : )
Welcome Back Events – Tuesday August 26th.
This is an orientation and welcoming event for new students (AM). They will be joined by returning students for lunch and an afternoon session. We will do some playing, some getting to know each other, getting to know returning students, fun and games. Bring your instrument, water bottle, and pencil.
10:00-Noon – New students (freshmen, transfers, etc.)
Noon – Pizza provided for all program lunch (if you can’t eat pizza please plan to bring a lunch)
Noon-3:00 – All Band/Jazz Students
Bring your instrument, a water bottle, and a pencil.
6:00pm – MTHS Bands Annual Family BBQ – Brier Park – See attached flyer for more information.
Gear – please purchase at least a pep band t-shirt. Takes about 2 weeks to arrive. Our first game is Sept. 12th.
Download the Band App to your phone to stay current on the Concert and Jazz Bands information. Seriously! This is best way for me to communicate with parents/guardians (and students) and for you to connect with me, other parents and Band Boosters. We can’t emphasize the importance of using this app enough. Yes, you can manage notifications so you are not overwhelmed at times.
