I’m sharing information from last Wednesday’s Save The Music Community Meeting. We had a great turnout and look forward to more parents voicing their concern. Please share as appropriate.
Below are resources we referenced that you can use to educate yourself further on the potential cuts to music teachers/classes, state unfunded mandates, Arts Endowment Fund, and more.
Please show up this Tuesday, April 23, at 6:30pm for the ESD School Board Meeting!
We realize that some music teachers can not actively engage in this advocacy. We hear you and we are working for you!
Presentation
- View the presentation from the April 17 Save The Music Parent Meeting
- For the class list and numbers on slides 6-8, we know there are more potential music class cuts and music teacher cuts (RIF) than we were aware of at the time of meeting. We shared what we knew at the time.
Recording
- You can view a recording of the 1 hour meeting.
Foundation ESD
- Visit the Foundation ESD Save The Arts page to learn more about the Arts Endowment Fund
- View the Arts Endowment Fund letter. It’s important to contact Deb Brandi and start to raise funds.

Unfunded Mandates
Here are two resources you can read about how the state should fund unfunded mandates. The letter was shared in early 2024 and King 5 referenced it in their article.
